Subtle and easy. Ji Cheng 2012

Japanese style has been influencing me for some time. My new collection inspired on Urban birds has something of a Japanese flavour to it. However I would still like to learn  things about Asian Art, and especially how to make a Kimono.

TV and Press features.

My school makes the local online and printed press and this is the article online. I made the press and local TV. I'm waiting to get the video of that interview with my tutor.
Bobbin Underground was featured as well as displayed for all to see at the expo.

Discovering a late fashion genious. Geoffrey Beene

I hate clothes that look saleable. I love when they look desirable.
Geoffrey Beene 1927-2004

I have discovered the late Geoffrey Beene, a visionary of fashion, a man who introduced flannel and lycra to Haute Couture... the man who made style by making the jumpsuit an evening garment. He said in the late 90's Lycra would be the fabric of the future and he was right. He was also an amazing artist, his creations are timeless.

1976 - First American Designer to show his collections in Milan, Italy. Follows up with Rome, Paris, Brussels and Vienna.
Wins sixth Coty American Fashion Critics Award for giving impetus to American Fashion abroad. Presents the Geoffrey Beene Collection at the American Embassies in Rome and Paris.

2000 - Geoffrey Beene is inducted into the Fashion Center Walk of Fame and is honored with a plaque reading, "A Designer's Designer, Geoffrey Beene is one of the most artistic and individual of fashion's creators...".
2002 - Geoffrey Beene is received by First Lady Laura Bush, who awards him with the National Design Award from The Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt Museum.
2003 - Awarded the first National Arts Club Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement.
